Project coordinator - Integrity of elections in the EU

The European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) seeks a part-time project coordinator for an EU project aiming to strengthen the integrity of elections within the EU. Within this project, several reports shall be produced investigating issues relating to electoral integrity on both the EU-level and the national level of seven EU-member states; public round tables conducted presenting these studies; advocacy campaigns conducted to call for the implementation of electoral reforms to improve electoral integrity.

The responsibility of the project coordinator is to carry out the EU-level aspects of the project (studies, round tables, and campaigns), while coordinating with project partners, who will conduct national-level studies and campaigns. Project partners represent the following EU-member states: Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Sweden.

The task of the coordinator includes

  • To manage communication within the project between partners;
  • To coordinate the EU-level studies produced by external experts;
  • To organize at least three international round tables (held online, however, in-person also possible if Covid-restrictions allow it);
  • To help develop and carry out EU-wide advocacy campaigns relating to the topics discussed in the international round tables;
  • To coordinate the EU-level campaigns and the project partners’ national campaigns;
  • To be responsible for project reporting and documentation towards the donor;
  • To provide regular reporting about project activities to project supervisor at EPDE;
  • To coordinate and consult with the EPDE secretariat and its project partners.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in political affairs in Europe with a focus on elections;
  • Proven expertise in project management and NGO work;
  • Good knowledge of European citizen election observation networks and their methodologies;
  • Experience in international election monitoring;
  • Fluent English, good command of other EU-member state languages.

This position is to be filled for 01 February 2022 and initial duration is foreseen until the end of August 2022. This is a remote work-from-home position, part-time, but residency in Berlin or in Germany is preferred so that occasional in-person meetings can be held. The conditions for this position shall be regulated by a service contract.

The aim of EPDE is to support citizen election observation and to contribute to democratic election processes throughout Europe. EPDE is a signatory of the Declaration of Global Principles for Nonpartisan Election Observation and Monitoring by Citizen Organizations and the Code of Conduct for Nonpartisan Election Observation. EPDE also is a member of the Global Network of Domestic Election Monitors (GNDEM).
